Marlene Coleman
Dear AMAC Members,
My name is Marlene Coleman, and I’m excited to announce my candidacy for Re-Election as the At-Large Director on the Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC) Board of Directors.
With more than 20 years of leadership in airport concessions and diversity-focused initiatives, I bring proven experience, passion, and vision to this role. I’ve led one of the nation’s largest concessions programs at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, consistently exceeding minority participation goals and creating inclusive, opportunity-rich environments.
My Qualifications:
- Pioneer for Equity
My career has been a testament to my dedication to leveling the playing field for small, minority-, and women-owned businesses. I’ve developed strategies to remove barriers to entry and empower future leaders, and I’m committed to continuing this work.
- Experienced Program Leader
My experience as a program leader is extensive. I’ve managed ATL’s multi-million-dollar concessions program and led the award-winning solicitation projects, earning ATL the “Best Overall Concessions Program” and “Best Program Design” by Airport Experience News. This track record of success should instill confidence in my ability to lead.
- Trainer & Mentor
As a leader of the City of Atlanta’s 15-week Small Business Development Program, I trained dozens of small businesses to compete in highly technical fields like water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Nationally Recognized Innovator
From receiving the Airport Experience News 2021 Property Manager of the Year award for COVID-19 response leadership to earning the National Association of Minority Contractors 2022 Pacesetters Award for minority contractor advocacy, I’m honored to be recognized for forward-thinking and impact.
- AMAC Veteran & Bridge-Builder
I currently serve on the AMAC Board as Director at Large. I also chair the Government Affairs Strategic Partnership Subcommittee, co-chaired the 2024 Economic Opportunity & Policy Forum, and proudly serve as a member of the Supplier Diversity Committee. I’m committed to fostering transparent communication between airports, contractors, and concessionaires.
- Relationship Strategist
Through decades of building trust with municipalities, commissions, and agencies, I’ve created viable contracting opportunities that open doors for disadvantaged business enterprises (DBEs).
My Vision for the Future:
If re-elected as AMAC At Large Director, I have a clear vision for the future. I aim to foster better communication and understanding between airports, contractors, and concessionaires. By promoting open dialogue, we can identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance the experience for all stakeholders. I aim to bridge the gap between these critical elements of the aviation industry and work towards a more collaborative and prosperous future.
A Call to Action:
I am passionate about advancing minority and women-owned businesses within the airport industry. With my proven track record of success, I am confident I can make a meaningful contribution to AMAC. I humbly request your support and vote. Together, we can drive the aviation industry towards a more inclusive and equitable future.
I appreciate your consideration.

I am seeking an At-Large Council Seat to continue to advance the cause of underserved businesses in and on airport properties around the country. I was the founding M/WBE Coordinator for Volusia County, Florida and represented the Daytona Beach International Airport from 1985 through 1992 at AMAC events. I lived and worked through all of the iterations that evolved from 49 CFR Part 23, which later became Part 26. This was before concessions took their place under Part 23. That was before the changing of the letters from M/WBE to include HUB, SBE, DBE, ACDBE and VOSB. As a result, I was a member of various organizations that embraced small business advancements including the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) and others.
After serving in two other public organizations, the Orlando Utilities Commission and Orange County Government, from 1992 through 2015, I retired and moved into the financial sector as a small business lender. Three years later, in 2019 I joined the staff of PSA Management, a longtime member of AMAC. PSA is one of the same firms that had been a stable and reliable business contractor, who had competed and won contracts with organizations that I had previously worked for. The firm has successfully competed for and has contracts in various airports across America. I have this firm’s full support to seek this At-Large seat.
Given the opportunity, I will do all that I can to help establish and support chapters, as well as make an honest effort to establish a Chapter in Orlando. I will also carry the banner for AMAC. Realizing that the work that this organization has done in the past is more important now than ever before. The AMAC banner needs to be lifted high, in the face of those that refuse to acknowledge its’ true value. It needs to be lifted high, in the face of those who would deny the past positive results. It needs to be lifted high by someone who has served as an advocate and who will continue to do so. If you give me your vote, I will do that and more.

William “Bill” Swift
You know me as an outspoken and committed member of AMAC (more than 35 years), strongly supporting its principles for the inclusion of women and minorities in every aspect of the airport industry. Many members have sought and received my assistance or guidance in making their way through the maze of doing business at airports, and I have helped because I sincerely care and believe we need to and must help those that come behind us.
This time, I’m asking you to vote for me as the incumbent Treasurer of AMAC. My role on the Board has been to provide not only financial guidance and accountability, but also to serve as a voice of reason, optimism, and ingenuity, ensuring that AMAC impacts and serves our membership in achieving their goals. Please vote for me, Bill Swift, so that I can continue to be your advocate, voice, and unwavering supporter of your success in the industry of airports.
By way of background, I have served as a two-term Chair of AMAC, first and second Vice Chair, regional board director, and as the Annual Business Diversity Conference Chair for five successful conferences. I have served as a panelist on numerous conference sessions.
I have been a spokesperson for AMAC before our congressional leadership in both the House and Senate, as well as the Congressional Black Caucus. I have challenged, developed, and proposed a methodology to raise the Personal Net Worth cap, which was adopted in 2012, from $750,000 to the current $1.3 million, and I’m prepared to work on raising it again.
During my early years, I served as the Director of Economic Development under Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson. Later as Director of Procurement where we went from less than 1% participation of women and minorities to over 25% in less than 2 years – Atlanta became the model for the airport industry on how to ensure there is meaningful participation of women and minorities not only in procurement and contracting, but in leadership as well.
When I transitioned to airport concessions as the vice president of operations on the Dobbs-Paschal Midfield Corporation team, it was not long before I became the executive director for all the retail, services, food and beverage locations at Atlanta’s airport (over 120 locations). For more than 25 years, two of my companies, Business Traveler Services, Inc. and Swift Services, Inc., have operated numerous concession locations. At one point, we were present in nine airports.
