AMAC Publishes Its 2024–2027 Strategic Plan

AMAC published its 2024–2027 Strategic Plan, aimed to strengthen advocacy efforts, deploy AMAC’s thought leadership, expand business contracting opportunities, diversify leadership and management in the industry, and build AMAC’s organizational capacity through operational sustainability and enhanced member value.

AMAC Hosted the 1st Annual She SOARS—Women in Aviation Summit

AMAC hosted the 1st Annual She SOARS—Women in Aviation Summit with Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Atlanta, GA. Nearly 50 speakers and over 300 attendees in the aviation industry, including mid- and upper-management professionals, HR leaders, airport governing authorities, government officials and industry association leaders, convened to focus on the multifaceted opportunities available to women in the workplace, including career growth, professional development, and the well-being of both mind and body.

AMAC Lobbying Efforts Incorporated Into the H.R. 3935, the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act

The AMAC Government Affairs Committee successfully had key provisions it lobbied for included in the approved H.R. 3935, the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act. This bill reauthorizes the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) through FY2028, including activities and programs related to airport planning and development, facilities and equipment, and operations.

AMAC President & CEO Eboni Wimbush Appointed by USDOT Secretary Buttigieg to the DOT Advisory Committee on Transportation Equity

AMAC President & CEO Eboni Wimbush was appointed by U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary Buttigieg to the Advisory Committee on Transportation Equity (ACTE) under the Federal Advisory Committee Act. Eboni was among ACTE’s 24 leading experts who will advise DOT Secretary Buttigieg on issues related to civil rights, job access expansion and economic opportunity in transportation for all communities. ACTE is integral to implementing the DOT Equity Action and Strategic Plan.

AMAC Launched Chapters

AMAC launched chapters to expand the organization’s local reach to women and minorities in the aviation industry. First-Ever AMAC Chapters: Baltimore, MD/Washington, DC; Chicago, IL; Denver, CO; Detroit, MI; Los Angeles, CA; and Portland, OR.

AMAC Awarded Nearly $400,000 to Conduct TRB ACRP Research

AMAC was awarded nearly $400,000 and selected by the Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) as the research contractor for “ACRP 01-51: Improving Airport Organizational Practices to Enhance ACDBE/DBE Participation” to provide guidelines and tools for effective practices to help airports increase and maintain meaningful DBE/ACDBE participation in their business opportunities.

AMAC Advocated for the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act

AMAC worked with members of Congress to advocate for the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act resulting in $2 billion for airports and $200 million in rent relief for concessionaires and the American Rescue Plan Act resulting in $8 billion in grants for airports and $800 million in rent relief for concessionaires that prioritized Airport Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (ACDBEs).

AMAC Advocated for Federal Relief for Concessionaires

Our lobbying team worked tirelessly with Congress to include airports and concessions operators, particularly ACDBEs, on the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act funding bills leading to two relief packages.

AMAC members testified before Congress on the importance of the DBE/ACDBE federal programs.

We teamed up with the DENCommerce Hub to advise AMAC members on how to apply for Paycheck Protection Program, Economic Injury Disaster Loans and Main Street Lending programs. AMAC members received free advice and a team to conduct research to help maximize funding.
